An analysis of film titles in their openings
The Greatest Showman - 2018
The opening to the greatest showman is interesting, it plays the music in which the film will start with over the '20th century fox' This to an audience is seen as a promise of pleasure as that company is well known and so the audience has high hopes that it will be a high production made film.
It then switches to the different version of the song whilst stopping when the title come up on the screen, like 'Twentieth century fox' this emphasises the production company again. This is followed by the name of the movie.
This opens with 'village roadshow pictures' which again shows that the film will be a high production movie. After that the movie then goes in a scene with dialogue given the audience a bit of an insight to the narrative, it's a women in a jail suit and so connotes that she is a criminal. Once that scene is finished at around 3 minutes into the opening, music starts to play and then the setting from a jail changes to an aerial shot of a city. Then the credit come up 'Warner bros pictures. presents' which connotes it will be good. Then followed 'in association'. Then the title of the film 'Ocean's eight'
Bird Box - 2018
What isn't in the link is how this film opens with 'Netflix presents' which as the other openings connotes that the film has been well produced and so ensures the audience it will be good. The opening then goes on with a voiceover with a river, and then the title of the film 'bird box' comes up and that is the only text in the opening. Unlike the other openings there was another mention of the production companies
