FINAL POSTER

Annotating a draft of poster

Image
After looking into the other posters for BBC Three and after experimenting with some of the photos I took in my previous blog I have constructed a photo in which has an aspect of both phones and laptops. Here I am annotating this poster: My next steps will be retaking a shot like this however thinking more about the mise-en-scene, I am thinking having it plain, possibly white to enhance the focus even more on the social media in the shot.

Colour palette for the BBC Three

Image
Looking at the colour palette here the colours are very natural, bright colours, similar to my documentary I am talking about social media and so they have a picture of someones social media on the poster which immediately tells the audience what the documentary is about.  The text that I have chosen in many of my poster drafts is the same font as this one in Jesy Nelsons documentary. I really liked this font as I thought it suited my style of documentary. the colours I think are even more simple for Jesy Nelsons documentary with a pink background and then this created pink outlines around her hair. I think this is done because the central focus of this particular documentary is of her.  Stacey Dooleys poster for her documentary seems to be a snapshot of her talking most probably in her documentary and so you are again seeing exactly what sort of things she will be discussing in her documentary. The colour palette again natural tones, not much editing.

Shot types for poster

Image
Today I have been trying out photos for my poster. I felt as though if I used phones and laptops in my poster I would really get there message I am trying to say through a person being on social media and creating an idea that someone lives through their social media and this is where they get their personalities from.

My different posters

Image
I decided to have a bit of a play around with the positioning of my text and the font styles. The first picture here I have done this layout of the text in my previous blogpost and talked about how I think it could be too simple, so I decided to have a go at making more use of the space. However I think the font style 'impact' is definitely the font that I will use as this seems to be the one that looks most like a BBC Three poster. And also the one with more going on I do just think there is too much going on, I'm not sure about it. I also like this photo in particularly as it has both a male and female, connotations both genders are on their phones. Here i've again looked into how I could use the space in the image, I think I like the idea of this however don't think it will look that professional and people won't really read it all.

Experimenting with poster layout

Image
Here are two edits that might be used for my final poster. As previously discussed in another blog post, I wanted to experiment with both landscape and portrait styles of my poster. The landscape one I think give a more professional feel for the BBC specifically. However with the portrait one I am able to add more information on the poster which makes it more full. Although I like the look of the portrait on I do just think that it looks more like a film poster in some ways rather than a BBC three online documentary. The only problem I have with the landscape poster is that I have lots of blank space, but if I put more things on the poster it to me becomes too much and then doesn't look good and doesn't look professional. Overall I do like this image used and this is the same image I am using for my website, however I am still going to play around with other photos to see which one I think should be my main one.

Before and after editing photos

First draft of website

Image
This is a first draft of my cover page for my  website. I am fairly happy with it, but I do need to rethink the colour of the writing underneath my title as it is hard to see. Maybe I could try to use the BBC Three pink throughout my page to make an obvious brand of BBC Three.  I do think I will try some new things on my website to see if I can add any more to what I have created so far, maybe some social media links.

Videos for website

Image
I made these edits to put on my website, they are both short but I quite like the way I have edited the clips, I think it will give the audience a sneak peak of how the documentary is going to be. I enjoyed making these videos and it is a good way to make my website slightly more interactive than just still pictures.

Picture options for poster and website

Image
This first picture I like as I think it is all about social media, and it is getting out to the audience straight away what the documentary involves. The only problem if I was to use this as my main picture of my poster is that I think its bit too busy, there isn't much black space and I think blank space is an important aspect in a poster so that the text can be nice and clear to be read. I could still use this within my website. This photo is one of my favourites as I think it is showing a range of technology and and like how ironically there are two people sat next to each other and aren't talking and instead are sat on there technology. This idea that comes through this image I find is interesting, it also has lots of areas in which I could put text over. So I think I will experiment with this particular photo the most. This photo again I like as there is loads of blank space, I personally like the lighting coming through, connotations could be how it is sunny outsi

Playing around with layout for my website

Image
I have been trying different layouts of how I want my website to be, using different fonts and different pictures. I did keep having problems with the wording over some of my images as sometimes the pictures might have been too busy so it made it difficult to read the text. Although I liked this layout of the website I am still going to look into different layouts.

Looking into websites

Image
Looking into the James Bond website, I like how much updated information there is on here. There are also lots of images so this will draw in peoples attention. One page that is interesting is the one which shows all the James Bonds there have been. This website is up to date and intriguing and I think that is what makes it a good website.  This is the website that came up for 'Harry Potter', it is now combined with 'the fantastic beasts' this had made an interesting cover page for this website with half and half. On this website again like James Bond there are lots of updated articles about the film which are interesting.

First attempts of a poster

Image
This first poster I quite like as I chose to use a collage of pictures, doing this I think emphasises the point I am trying to make, how we are always on phones, everywhere and anywhere. I also quite liked using the BBC Three colour scheme of the pink as the borders for each photo as this makes it obvious what platform the documentary is going on.  This poster was inspired by 'Jesy Nelsons: Odd One Out' poster, a simple text but I quite like how simple this is, however I think it could be too simple. Maybe I could try editing the effects and filters on the image to make it more interesting.
